Week 5-6
Consider some helpful strategies when communicating with your student teacher, that can help them develop stronger reflection skills. Some ideas include:
Clarification & Elaboration: Ex.) If a student teacher comes to you and is upset. Paraphrase the student teachers’ question or concern. Then, ask a question that would help them to reflect on their experience.
Encourage Application & Transfer from one Setting to Another : The student teacher is struggling with their lesson plans. Ask the student teacher what they remember about lesson planning in their teaching methods courses at UF.
Rehearsal : This can be helpful when working on specific skills. Ex.) If your student teacher is struggling with beginning a new topic with students, try asking them to describe several options for how a topic could be introduced using different materials.

- The first cooperating teacher support zoom meeting will be held on Wednesday Feb 15th at 6pm. The link for this meeting has been emailed to you by Dr. Barry. Please make sure to mark it on your calendars!
- Student teachers have their second seminar on Wednesday, March 1st. This will be hosted at UF Plant City. Student teachers are responsible for preparing sub plans for all of the courses that they have been teaching when out for intern seminars.
- Student teachers should be following the Spring Break of their school site
